The Real Reason AI Initiatives Stall

Every week, another organization announces an AI initiative. And every quarter, most of those same organizations report that nothing meaningful has changed.

The assumption is that the tool is the problem. It rarely is.

What actually stalls AI initiatives is a leadership gap — a failure to answer, at the executive level, three fundamental questions:

1. What problem are we actually solving?
2. Who owns this inside the organization?
3. What does success look like — and by when?

Without clear answers, middle managers hedge. Employees wait for direction. And the initiative becomes a line item on the roadmap that everyone talks around.

The fix isn't a better tool. It's a clearer decision from the top — made once, communicated consistently, and followed through.
